Physical Therapy
Malcolm McPhee, DPT
Malcolm knows what it feels like to be sidelined. As a competitive athlete, he built his identity around performance — until a senior-season injury brought everything to a halt. That experience didn't just teach him about healing; it changed how he understood it. He wanted to know not just how the body recovers, but how a person comes back whole — and how to help others do the same.
That question became a calling. Malcolm went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and founded McPhee Physical Therapy in Anacortes, WA, where he specializes in rehabilitation and functional fitness for active adults who refuse to let pain define their limits. His approach goes beyond treating symptoms — he looks at the whole person, connecting physical health to the activities, relationships, and landscapes that make life worth living. Whether it's getting back on the trail, back on the slopes, or simply back to feeling like yourself, Malcolm meets his clients where they are and helps them get to where they want to be.
Outside the clinic, Malcolm is a self-experimenter, an outdoor enthusiast, and a passionate advocate for natural, whole-person wellness. He believes the body has an extraordinary capacity to heal when given the right conditions — and that true health is less about fixing what's broken and more about reclaiming what's possible. He started this practice because he's walked the path himself, and he built it for people who are ready to take ownership of their health and stay in the game for life.
Personal Training, Nutrition
Amy Thompson
Hi, I’m Amy, a NASM Certified Personal Trainer who understands that getting started and staying consistent is a challenge in our busy world! Injuries, illness, work, and family can make getting to the gym difficult no matter how motivated you are. Let me be your teammate on your journey to health and strength by creating a unique plan that fits your goals, life circumstances, and preferences.
Cookie-cutter workouts made for gym bros with massive muscles don’t work for most people. My approach is simple: create effective workouts that can be tailored to anyone’s level of fitness and ability. Many of my clients have recently “graduated” from physical therapy or are returning to the gym after a long pause, and their current status is always taken into account with my program. I provide routines that strengthen vulnerable areas without compromising healing, while infusing enthusiasm and positivity into each and every session.
After majoring in Nutrition Science in college and obtaining my EMT certification, I worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, public health departments, and physician’s offices. But like many, I found myself spending more time sitting in front of a computer, sedentary… and my health began to suffer. A chance encounter with a Bootcamp session at my local running store changed my trajectory and led me down a healthier path that included running half-marathons, working with a personal trainer, and joining the CrossFit community. I regained confidence in myself, met amazing new friends, and began to love my body again. In 2024, I changed careers and obtained my personal training certification with the hope that I could share with others the gifts that fitness had given me.
When you choose to train with me, you are choosing to prioritize your physical and mental health in ways that build you up, not break you down. There are no drill sergeants here. I tailor every workout to your unique body and circumstances, helping you learn new movement patterns while also pushing you to improve and grow. Using engaging, varied exercises, I will challenge your strength, endurance, and balance to help you move confidently and reduce your risk of future injury. My goal is always to have you feeling better when you walk out the door than when you walked in, and proud of the work you accomplished.
Ready to join me? If you’re looking for customized personal training in a space where you can feel comfortable moving at your pace, come give us a try. Enjoy a reduced introductory price for your first session so we can work out together and ensure we’ll be a good fit as teammates. Visit our Scheduling page to see the calendar and choose a session that works for you. You deserve a strong, capable body that will carry you confidently into your 80’s and 90’s. Let me help you get there.
